Patricia Saucedo is a Mexican multimedia artist focused on designing interactive installations and immersive atmospheres. Her main area of study is illusion, which has led her to research the psychology of perception and the semiotics of sensitivity.
Communicologist and publicist, she’s delved into the visual arts world since 2003 as part of the Jalapeño Productions Collective, where her focus is on photography, graphic design and experimental video, producing over 9 collective exhibits over two years. In 2005, she dives into the world of cinema, directing and collaborating on several short films, participating as co-producer in the documentary “Vivos se los llevaron, vivos los queremos” (“They were taken alive, alive we want them back”), which was included in the official selection of the Latin American Film Festival of Trieste, Italy. Circa 2009 she transitioned into live video, presenting live cinema projects along with several performing artists, as well as working as a VJ (videojockey) on tours with different artists and DJs. In 2010, she pursued a diploma on plastic arts and self-taught video mapping, a technique she still applies in her projects, she also founded Video Mapping MX. Furthermore, in pursuit of expanding her creative possibilities, in 2016 she founded Ajua Lab, where she leads interactive installation projects.
After several years of exploration and analysis in a role at the crossroads of technology, art and entertainment, she comes to regard the theme of illusion as her subject matter; which motivates her to blur barriers and combine different supports within her projects, always true to her intent of creating heteropias, those alternate possibilities that surpass aesthetics and become disquieting, intense or transformative.
Currently, Pats Saucedo creates comprehensive projects involving video mapping, lighting, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) reaching into mixed realities (MR) and collaborates in her studio with different artists, makers and entertainment strategists developing projects that include mechatronics, music and interactivity.
